New Forum

“Humanity is a mystery. It needs to be unravelled, and if you spend your life unravelling it, don’t say you’ve wasted your time.” Fyodor Dostoevsky.

Most of humanity’s problems, such as war, poverty, and climate change, are self-inflicted. Sustainable, long-term solutions can only be found by unravelling Dostoevsky’s mystery of humanity. But this can only be done through an honest, rational, objective, and scientific understanding of human nature.

For two years, I have been posting articles on this subject on my website, Quora, and LinkedIn and now have a significant following. Originally, I considered repeating the articles on Facebook. However, I have concluded that my website is not the best place for you to have your say, or for you to contribute to the discussion. So, I have decided to create an open Facebook forum where I will merely post links to new articles and join any discussion. You can find it at:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/325990503088660/

You are free to post your own views, articles, criticisms, or whatever there, subject, of course, to Facebook’s rules.

Please join the debate.

Learn More about Systems Science

I have made much mention of Systems Science in my recent articles. If you would like to learn more on this topic, then I recommend following Shingai Thornton’s blog at: https://systemsexplorers.substack.com/

Shingai is a member of the International Society for the Systems Sciences (ISSS) and will write about the topic on a weekly basis. Each article takes about 5 to 10 minutes to read.

Initially, they will focus on making some of the core concepts in George
Mobus’ Principles of Systems Science textbook easily accessible to a
broader audience who might not have time to read the book.

Shingai is an aspiring systems scientist looking for critical feedback on his writing, and collaborations around the application of systems science to issues in the social sciences. He is receiving advice from George and other members of the ISSS education committee and together they are also developing an online course based on the book.

The Mathematics of Language and Thought

A copy of my recently published book, “The Mathematics of Language and Thought”, is now available for free download on this website. Click here or go to “Menu Options”, “My Books” and click on the links.

The topic covered is mathematical logic. The book describes a new and innovative system which is axiom based, can be manipulated in a similar way to algebra, and which unites the various conventional logics, mathematics, and natural language using a single form of symbolism. Furthermore, it improves significantly on conventional tense and epistemic logics. It also replicates causality and natural human reasoning, which is, of course, probabilistic.

I have had the advantage of access to a word processor. Nevertheless, this work has taken 23 years to complete. I have the greatest admiration therefore for earlier innovators, such as Cantor, Frege and Russell, who had nothing but a fountain pen or a quill and inkpot to work with. Clearly, it was impossible for them to investigate the subject as deeply as they must have wished. What might they have achieved with present day technology?
